This year is just flying by, and I haven’t been on top of sharing what I’ve been up to.
A couple autumns ago, Visit Royal Gorge Region, which incorporates the area around Cañon City, CO, asked my partner to create content for them, and she asked me to help make videos and photos. I’d been going to Cañon City for years to rock climb at nearby Shelf Road, but had never really explored the surrounding region. It turned into fun and adventurous week filled with exciting activities.
We started out at the Royal Gorge Bridge Park , walking the suspension bridge that spans the expansive gorge 956 feet over the Arkansas River, swung out over the gorge on the Royal Rush Sky Coaster, zip-lined back across the gorge, enjoyed a meal at the cafeteria, and took the gondola back to explore the canyon walls on the Via Ferrata. The park was ton of fun for a rest day activity, or for a family destination.
The rest of the week we rock climbed at Shelf Road, ate at some great restaurants, sky dived with Colorado Mountain Skydive, went to a nude hot springs, rode new fantastic mountain biking trails on fat bikes, and took a jeeping tour. The Jeeping Tour with Colorado Jeep Tours explored many of the most important dinosaur fossil digs in North America, on a road I’d driven dozens of times to get to Shelf Road and had no idea of the historical importance of the area.
Genevive and I had a great time exploring everything Cañon City and the Royal Gorge region had to offer.
