Abstractsea

Back in December, Genevive and I spent some time in Puerto Rico. It was refreshing to get my camera out and shoot quite a lot, to the point I annoyed Genevive. I got very distracted by this sunset south of Rincon, and started taking long exposure images of the waves crashing all around me.

I love the abstract play of light and shadows on the water, the colors of the sunset blending with dark storm clouds and the deep blue of the water. The blurred light and hues transport me to memories of water like an ephemeral dream. I can’t quite place it or hold onto it. I’m a child seeing the ocean for the first time,  I’m getting washing machined by crashing surf in Bali over coral, I’m learning to surf. I can smell and taste the salt in the air. I find myself relaxed and somewhat anxious at the same time.
